The Fadal TRM Combines the Power of CNC Motion and the Convenience of Manual Operation
Fadal
Machining Centers has announced a new tool room mill, the TRM, which combines
the power of CNC motion with the convenience of manual operation. The TRM
features a 5-HP (peak) 40-taper spindle that delivers 4,000 RPM and a large work
envelope with 30 x 14 x 14-inch (762 x 356 x 356-mm) XYZ travels.
Two TRM tool room mills will be demonstrated in the Fadal WESTEC 2003 Booth # 3400. One TRM will demonstrate CNC operations, while the other is used in a competition to see who can machine the best circle using the X and Y manual pulse jog wheels. The prize will be announced at the show.
“We combined the manufacturing power of CNC motion technology with the flexibility and convenience of manual operation, enabling customers to produce quantities of identical parts, a prototype or simply remove some material by milling or drilling,“ said Barry Kasarda, vice president engineering, Fadal Machining Centers. With Fadal’s engineering, support and service, the TRM will provide any entry level, prototype or production facility with unsurpassed metal-cutting price/performance value.”
The TRM features the Fadal MP CNC control with large digital position readout. The MP CNC control features a 3,000 block processing speed and easy programming with a library of canned cycles for milling, pocketing and drilling. Full CNC operation is based on G-code programming with AC axis servo motors controlled by the CNC. In full manual mode, XYZ-axes are moved by manual pulse jog wheels. The control provides manual motion to 0.01, 0.001 and 0.0001-inch increments. In combined manual/CNC mode, the TRM provides jog travel limits, motorized feeds and index jogging. The TRM operates with single or three-phase power.
A removable chip tray with wheels can be removed from either the left or right side of the machine, helping to make chip removal and maintenance easier. With its small footprint, the TRM fits into a small space.
The TRM with MSRP of $19,900 begins shipping during March 2003.
