Delta Tau has announced the introduction of its CNC controller system, the PMAC-NC OS600 Compact Controller System. The Company is known for its standard open architecture four to eight-axis PMAC-NC OS600 Controller Systems, which are used on several brands of machining and turning centers. Using an IBM ISA/PC compatible platform and Microsoft Windows 95 or NT, the PMAC-NC OS600 Compact Controller System takes advantage of an incredible array of existing products. The controller package contains both the PMAC and an industrial PC. The PMAC, monitor, NC Panel Controller, and the keyboard are built into a compact enclosure, ready to mount on any type of machine tool.
According to Scott Gee of Delta Tau, "This new system is the next advancement in the evolution of open architecture machine tool controller systems. It was designed to achieve three goals; reduce CNC controller costs, simplify machine controller operation, and simplify controller integration. The PMAC-NC OS600 achieves these goals by featuring more standardized PC components, which in turn lowers system costs. An optimized operator control panel simplifies machine operation, and Delta Tau-created canned PLCs make integrating the new unit easier than ever before! "
Gee concluded by stating, "By using our new NC Panel Controller Board, which provides interfacing for up to 24 Inputs/24 Outputs of Opto-22 style I/O, the PMAC-NC OS600 can interface up to a total of 1,024 I/O. Featuring a redesigned controller enclosure, the system is operator friendly. For instance, by using a standard mounted in a slant position, input is easier than ever before. This and many other standard components allows machine tool integrators and users the capabilities of larger and more expensive CNC controllers.
