Shop Floor Automations Introduces New PDA Hand-Held Unit and Software

Shop Floor Automations (SFA), a large independent supplier of DNC Networking and Automation Software for the Manufacturing Industry has introduced new PDA Software for Palm Held Units.

"PDA Connect is an application that allows you to transfer files back and forth between most CNCs," said a company spokesperson. "Using standard XON/XOFF or Hardware Flow Control communication protocol, this simple-to-use interface allows you to backup or quickly load G-Code programs. An unlimited number of machine templates can be used to store baud rates, data bits, stop bits and parity for different CNC controls. The software also allows for editing of programs within the unit for a quick change to a feed rate or any other G-code. PDA Connect also allows any file from your desktop computer to be transferred to your PDA. The transfer is binary, so an exact copy of the original file is stored on your handheld. The solution can be used for backups, uploading files to CNC machines, collecting data from probes, or transferring files between remote computers with easy and convenience.

"Two solutions are currently being offered, a bundled kit with Palm Unit or just software. The bundle kit solution is complete with PDA Connect Software, Palm M130 Unit, RS232 cable and complete documentation. If users currently have a PDA unit already, the PDA Connect Software can be purchased stand-alone."
