OGP Introduces SmartScope Flash 500 Automatic Dimensional Measurement System |

Optical Gaging Products, Inc. (OGP) has announced its multisensor SmartScope Flash 500 automatic dimensional measurement system with ample XY stage travel to accommodate measurement of a single large part or groups of smaller parts. A measurement routine for one part is easily repeated for a batch of fixtured parts, providing throughput to support production requirements, the company said.
SmartScope Flash 500 is a small-footprint floor stand system that features an expansive 500 x 450 x 200 mm XYZ measurement volume, with the added flexibility of a 300 mm or 400 mm extended Z-axis option and/or 610 mm extended Y-axis option. "Measurement accuracy is assured through uniquely designed-in features," said an OGP spokesperson. "For example, its optical assembly moves in the X-axis across a steel crossbeam so it is evenly supported throughout the extent of its travel, and there is no stage travel beyond the width of the unit. The part moves only in the Y-axis. All axes are DC servo driven and use high-resolution scales for positional feedback. A metrologically stable granite platform ensures proper damping and structural integrity. And integral system electronics minimize the total system footprint while maximizing stage travel.
"Like other SmartScope Flash systems, the Flash 500 excels at video measurement. It is equipped with the patented AccuCentric 12x motorized zoom lens that auto-calibrates at every magnification change. There are multiple system illumination sources, including the patented white LED SmartRing light, coaxial (TTL) white surface illuminator and green LED back light. SmartScope Flash 500 is also configurable with optional touch trigger probes for tactile measurement of hard-to-image part features, laser for non-contact surface contouring, or unique micro-probe sensors, such as Feather Probe that can acquire data points with only milligrams of pressure, or the Rainbow Probe scanning white light sensor. Parts may be mounted in OGP's exclusive MicroTheta Rotary Indexer, a versatile fixture that rotates mounted parts to present features to the measuring sensors for more thorough measurements.
