Devcon Zip
Patch, a patch of adhesive-impregnated fiberglass, affects fast, permanent,
economical repairs to punctured or abrasion-damaged surfaces. It adheres to
metals, concrete, wood, ceramics, composites and most plastics and cures quickly
to a hard, waterproof surface. Zip Patch withstands service temperatures to
200-degrees F and is suitable for pipes, tanks, drums and other equipment.
Zip Patch comes in a foil pouch. After peeling away one side of the pouch and spraying the patch with the liquid activator included in each kit, the user applies the patch to the repair area and peels away the remaining foil. Spraying the outer side of the patch completes activation of the specially formulated, low-odor adhesive. Zip Patch sets in approximately 19 minutes at room temperature and reaches functional cure about a minute later. Tough yet flexible, the patch attains a tensile strength of 10,000 psi and a tensile modulus of 192,500 psi after seven days, the company said.
Zip Patch can also be used as a temporary "form" on worn-through surfaces to hold Devcon Ceramic Repair Putty in place until it cures. Devcon Ceramic Repair Putty is a tough, alumina-filled epoxy compound for economically rebuilding and repairing equipment surfaces badly worn or damaged by abrasion, corrosion or chemical attack. When applied to the back or underside of holes or worn-through surfaces, Zip Patch supports the putty until it cures and achieves maximum strength. Once the Ceramic Putty has cured, it may be coated with Devcon Brushable/Sprayable Ceramic coating to produce a smooth, durable finish that affords additional protection, the company said.
