High Spindle Speed Increaser Allows Faster Drilling and Endmilling

"Manufacturers can increase drilling and endmilling operations on existing machines with low spindle speeds up to six times faster with the BIG Daishowa High Spindle speed increaser, available from BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc.," stated a company spokesperson.

The High Spindle maximizes performance of existing cutting tools by increasing spindle speeds for machining centers and conventional machines, resulting in improved accuracy and finish for diameter ranges 0.059" to 0.630".

Its reinforced planetary gear driving system multiplies machine spindle speeds by a factor of four, five or six times (up to 20,000 RPM). The smooth operation of the gear driving system and sealing of the unit helps ensure minimal heat generation despite its high torque rating and extended operating time.

The BIG-PLUS Spindle system, which is standard on all High Spindle BT and CV taper versions, offers increased rigidity. BIG-PLUS features simultaneous taper and flange contact between machine spindle and tool holder. Combined with the High Spindle's large diameter body, rigidity is increased 1.7 times.

"By maximizing spindle speeds, users can now achieve shorter cycle time and superior surface finish on machines that are not normally capable of performing high speed operations. That contributes to more efficient operations, lower costs and higher profits," said Chris Prystawsky, assistant product manager, BIG Systems. "The multi directional coolant nozzles can be adjusted to suit the length of any cutting tool, which ensures maximum coolant delivery to the cutting edge."
