Amphenol Industrial Operations, a manufacturer of
connectors and interconnection systems for the industrial markets, now offers a
RoHS-compliant version of its Star-Line EX circular connectors and has reduced
or eliminated the ozone depleting substances from them, the company said.
Certified for use in Zone 1-Ilc hazardous environments, Amphenol's Star-Line EX connectors are typically used in harsh applications such as onshore and offshore oil drilling, petrochemical refineries, aircraft re-fuelling stations, paint spray booths and in other manufacturing and production environments.
"The Star-Line EX electrical connectors provide quick and safe interconnections to modular equipment and eliminate the need for hard wiring to terminal blocks enclosed in junction boxes," said an Amphenol spokesperson. "Their lightweight, rugged, aluminum connector housings are precision-machined from high-tensile-strength bar stock and finished with a hard anodized coating to 40 points on the Rockwell C scale. Stainless steel and brass housings are also available.
"Amphenol's RoHS-compliant Star-Line EX connectors feature a dielectric strength of 1800 V and heat resistance up to 750°F (399°C). In addition, they offer the industry's broadest range of backshell arrangements and contact inserts for power (up to 1135 amps at 1000 volts), signal (up to 143 contacts), and mixed power and control applications, which are interchangeable and reversible to suit specific needs. Contacts are made from copper with standard silver plating, and are available with optional gold plating."
The company will continue to offer the standard non-RoHS compliant version of these connectors for customers who are not restricted by RoHS compliance requirements.
Pricing for a RoHS-compliant Star-Line EX connector starts at $200. Delivery is 8-10 weeks ARO.
