Kitamura's Bridgecenter-10 Double Column Vertical Machining Center

"Kitamura's Bridgecenter-10 Double Column Vertical Machining Center offers an expansive work envelope in combination with a table load capacity of up to 13,200 lbs for heavy-duty cutting of molds to the cutting of larger parts requiring higher precision, accuracy and speed," said a company spokesperson. "Table size is an ample 118" x 54" with an extra long Y travel distance of 68.9", making this machine the perfect companion for aerospace, defense and mold/die applications. X-, Y- and Z-axis stroke of 100" x 68.9" x 31.5" allows for machining of a max. workpiece size of 118" x 67" x 33" (L x W x H).

"Featuring exceptional precision with positioning accuracy of 0.000078" and repeatability of 0.000039", the Bridgecenter-10 uses super-finish, ground-hardened solid box ways on all axes, delivering outstanding accuracy in full stroke positioning and repeatability. A 2-speed gear driven spindle structure offers the versatility for roughing with fine-finish capabilities in a single set-up on a variety of materials from light to heavy duty cutting. A spindle speed of 10,000 RPM is standard on this 50 taper machine. The Dual Contact Spindle design offers the benefits of greater machining rigidity, improved surface finish, higher cutting accuracy and extended cutting tool life.

"The Bridgecenter-10 is equipped standard with high speed rapids of 945 ipm on the X, Y and Z axes, the fastest on box ways for a machine in this class. The basic construction of the Bridgecenter-10 consists of a bed type casting with square section support columns, incorporating a triangular section cross beam for an even distribution of weight during heavy cutting. Standard linear scale feedback ensures optimum accuracy on a machine of this size.

"A 30 Tool upgradeable ATC is standard with a 2.8 tool-tool change time. The Bridgecenter-10 is available with 4th/5th axis interface upgrades allowing for the machining of more complex multi-sided parts.

"Kitamura combines many standard features in our Kitamura-Fanuc 16iMB control for maximum flexibility in a variety of machining environments. Standard features include 1280 meters memory, 16MB Data Server, HPCC by RISC Control, NURBS Interpolation, manual guide conversational control function and Ethernet connection. This control is powerful enough to ensure optimum accuracy."
