Kitamura's Mycenter-4XiF Vertical Machining Center
offers #40 or #50 taper spindle options for the flexibility needed in the
heavy-duty cutting of molds to the high-speed, high-accuracy cutting required
for high-precision parts. Both configurations offer positioning accuracy of
±0.000078" and repeatability of ±0.000039", the company reports.
The Mycenter-4XiF has travels of 40" x 20.1" x 20.1" (X,Y,Z), allowing for the flexibility needed in the machining of medium-to-larger size parts. "The overall design of the Mycenter-4XiF promotes operator convenience and easy maintenance with standard features such as wash coolant & chip coils on either side of bed casting for ease in chip removal and higher splash guards with fully enclosed ceilings to improve cleanliness while protecting the operator from chips and coolant," said a Kitamura spokesperson. "A standard 90¡ swing-out operation panel with manual remote pulse generator makes setup easier, and sliding side doors on the machine allow for easy access to the machining area.
"The Mycenter-4XiF uses a high-precision solid box guideway system allowing for full surface contact with the ability to withstand severe machining forces. The guide ways are induction hardened, precision ground and turcite coated for optimum accuracy and superior abrasion resistance with outstanding vibration absorbing properties. With rapid feed rates of 1969 IPM on solid box ways and a five-year box way warranty, Kitamura's guideway system is guaranteed to hold high precision motion for the long-term," reports Kitamura.
On the #40 taper configuration, a 15,000 RPM (20,000 RPM optional), four-speed gear-driven spindle is standard for lighter cuts with fine-finish capabilities at higher speeds. The #50 taper configuration offers two spindle speeds (5,000 RPM, 10,000 RPM) for heavy-duty, high-torque cutting. The standard 15,000 RPM #40 spindle offers maximum output torque of 165.3 ft lbs with fine finish capabilities. Standard on the #50 taper machine is a 25 HP AC spindle motor with a two-speed, 5,000 RPM gear driven spindle allowing the Mycenter-4XiF to reach full power at 304 RPM with a maximum output torque of 320 ft lbs for the ability to handle tough materials and the heavy cuts. "The 'Dual Contact Spindle' design is standard on both machine configurations and offers the benefits of greater machining rigidity, improved surface finish, higher cutting accuracy and extended cutting tool life," said the spokesperson.
A 30-tool upgradeable ATC is standard (40, 60 option) with a high-speed 1.4 second tool-tool change time. The Mycenter-4XiF is available with 4th- and 5th-axis interface upgrades allowing for the machining of more complex multi-sided parts. In addition, a two-station automatic side shuttle pallet changer is an available option for fast change over at a moments notice.
"Kitamura combines many standard features in our Kitamura-Fanuc 16iMB control for maximum flexibility in a variety of machining environments. Standard features include 1280 meters memory, 16MB Data Server, HPCC by RISC Control, NURBS Interpolation, Manual Guide conversational control function and Ethernet connection. This control is powerful enough to ensure optimum accuracy."
