Okuma's Cosmo Center PM-600 Offers High-speed Machining
Okuma's Cosmo Center PM-600 parallel
mechanism machine tool was developed to achieve high-efficiency die/mold
machining that requires less polishing work and integrates operations for
cutting complicated shapes. According to Okuma, it offers high-speed machining,
sculptured surface machining and continuous operation.
Fast axis feed and quick acceleration and deceleration, which are the features of parallel mechanism, realizes 100 m/min. The Cosmo Center is capable of maximum acceleration speeds to 1.5 G. The machine's X, Y-axes travel is 23.26 in., Z-axis travel is 15.75 in.
High efficiency is achieved by increasing the spindle speed and the acceleration of axis feed mechanism. The 40 taper spindle motor offers speed ranges up to 12,000 min-1. The spindle slants within a range of ±25¡. The Cosmo Center offers continuous operation with a 20-station automatic tool changer.
