Knuth Releases Horizontal Boring Mill with 360-Degree Rotary Table

Knuth Machine Tools USA, Inc. has released the BO 110, a heavy-duty horizontal boring mill with a 3-axis digital read-out. The BO 110 has a spindle diameter of 4.25 inches with an infinitely variable frequency drive providing 8-1,000 RPM. The spindle feed is 23.6 inches with axial thrust of 2,750 lbs and torque of 900 ft/lb from a 10 HP main motor. There is a facing slide with a feed of 7.1 inches as well for increased flexibility, accuracy and productivity, the company said.

The 43 inches x 38 inches table's load capacity is 5,500 lbs. Travels of 39 inches longitudinal, 35 inches transverse and 35.25 inches vertical, serve a wide variety of applications. The spindle center to table range is 0-35 inches. The quill, headstock and table can feed in 36 steps from 0.0016 inches to 0.06 inches per revolution depending on spindle RPM.

"Knuth's BO 110 has rigid, hardened and precision ground square guides to ensure many years of accurate operation," said a spokesperson. "Mechanical functions that are not able to run simultaneously are provided with interlocks. Also, the headstock and feed gears are equipped with an overload clutch.

"In addition, operators are able to engage gears in the desired position with a lever-operated gear shifter and the table rotates 360 degrees for easy access. Telescoping steel covers protect the guides from chips and contamination. Also, the machine comes with 3-axes which are driven by servomotors and a tailstock."
