TRUMPF Inc. Receives Award for Laser Technology

TRUMPF Inc. has received a Connecticut Quality Improvement Award gold level Innovation Prize. The award recognizes the results of TRUMPF's TCF 1 laser, the only commercially available, diffusion-cooled CO2 laser based on coaxial electrode geometry.

"The TCF 1 meets new market demands by offering the simplicity, sturdiness and high-quality beam characteristics of smaller, low-wattage CO2 lasers, but at a much greater power level," stated a company spokesperson. The laser is capable of performing a wide variety of material processing tasks, including cutting, welding, scribing, and marking of metals, as well as less conventional applications in plastics, woods, fabrics, and ceramics.

"CQIA Innovation Prize award winners embody the critical intellect that is the foundation of Connecticut's long-term growth," said Sheila Carmine, founder and executive director of The CQIA Partnership.

This is the third consecutive year in which TRUMPF has won a CQIA innovation prize. TRUMPF Inc. was one of 20 2004 gold level innovation prize winners. The Connecticut Quality Improvement Award recognizes Connecticut manufacturing and service companies that excel in quality improvements for business success and growth.
