Atrump Utilizes OptodyneŽ Laser System With Atrump CNC Milling Machines
ATRUMP Machinery, Inc. has been laser
testing/calibrating its CNC mills since 2000 using the Optodyne Laser System.
"The increase in software capability and yearning to better our ISO 9002/1
Quality Certified Built Machines made this marriage," said Jack Chang, GM of
ATRUMP. "The Optodyne Company came in with a quality product, compatible
software and expert set/training." ATRUMP purchased and uses the Optodyne Laser
Calibration System: MCV-500 Laser Doppler Displacement Meter (LDDM(tm)) and
QC-500 Quick-check calibration system.
The Optodyne Company, headquartered in Compton, CA, specializes in calibrating CNC machine tools, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) and other precision measuring machines and stages. "Being able to laser compensate the 1-1/4" (or larger) precision ground ball screw, in 1/2" increments, as well as the overall length of the ball screw is a great advantage," said Andrew Glover of ATRUMP. "The quality of OPTODYNE Lasers (NIST traceable and ISO 17025 certified) and the quality of Atrump CNC machines (ISO 9002, NOW ISO 9001) make a perfect combination."
"Atrump Machinery mainly uses Centroid Controls, and the software from both Centroid and Optodyne work in tandem, to give us hassle free measurements, set-up and overall usage," continued Glover. "Optodyne Lasers use Windows software. It is friendly and designed to collect and analyze data in accordance with a variety of industry standards. These industry standards include NMTBA, VDI, ISO and ASME B5.54. The Laser system is calibrated and traceable to NIST."
Major applications for the Optodyne Laser System are:
Linear calibration of CNC machine tools, CMMs, leadscrews and DROs.
Quality control maintenance.
Ultra precision positioning.
The Optodyne Laser System automatically generates pitch error compensation files, straightness error compensation files and measures the absolute radius, feed-rate and acceleration of a circular contour.
