FPL-6 is a breakthrough in laser cutting for sheet metal fabrication, creating
enhanced production with speed, accuracy, and part quality. The FPL-6 is
designed by using innovative linear drive motor technology to enable maximum
speeds, even in small notches or narrow contours, a company spokesperson stated.
The FPL-6 will process sheets up to 1500 mm (60") X 3000 mm (120"). It enhances laser cutting for various material thicknesses and material types. Mild steel - up to 20 min (.78"); stainless steel - up to 12 min (.47"); and aluminum - up to 8mm (.32"). The FPL-6 is a Flying Optics / moving beam system with a working area of, 3000 min (120") X axis; 1500 min (60") Y axis; and 100 min (4") Z axis. Maximum positioning speed X/Y axis simultaneous up to 300 m/min (11,81 I'Vmin). Maximum workpiece weight is 800kg (1,760lbs.) and repeat tolerance of 0.0001 (±.025 mm) with contour cutting speed up to 20m/min. (787"/min) with nitrogen assist gas in 1 mm (.039") mild steel. To minimize set-up time during focal lens change, a newly developed, high-pressure cutting head has been integrated into the system. The constant distance between the material surface and the nozzle is achieved with a non-contact, capacitive, integrated sensing unit. The cutting head does not have to change when a focal lens change is required. Only a new lens cartridge has to be inserted. The lens mount can be changed in seconds by this cartridge technique. Cartridges are available for focal lengths of 5" and 7.5".
The Finn-Power FPL-6 provides offers "Ping-Pong" repositioning. Finn-Power developed the "Ping-Pong" movement for repositioning which allows smooth and efficient transitions for increased productivity, according to a company spokesperson.
Other features include: Laser beam delivery system with only 2 external mirrors, acceleration for X and Y axes is greater than 2 g's; switchable mode adapter to achieve optimum cutting performance under any conditions; and shuttle table supporting continuous part processing and positioning of the shuttle table is possible on three sides of the machine.
The FPL-6 is equipped with Finn-Power's NC Express software. Finn-Power's NC Express CNC programming system is a user friendly, integrated, and automated tool for managing Finn-Power equipment in the most efficient manner available. NC Express is a tooling, nesting and optimizing software package designed to integrate into an existing manufacturing environment, taking full advantage of the CAD design database and the Finn-Power machine tool product line. NC Express is a scaleable application - the system may be used as a single part drafting and tooling program or as a fully automated machine tool management system. Either way the results are the same - optimized automatic N/C code creation.
