Optodyne Announces: QC-500 Laser Calibration System
Optodyne Inc., a leader in laser
measurement, calibration and compensation systems, has announced the new QC-500
Laser Calibration System and Compensation system, which provides both static
volumetric positioning and dynamic contouring measurement. The single solution
system makes it easier and faster for manufacturers, mold makers and job shops
to accurately reproduce complex surfaces and maintain sub-micron accuracy of
parts.
Volumetric positioning measurement is based on Optodyne's new Laser Vector Measurement Technology (patent pending) for improving overall accuracy of the machine tool. In a few hours, a machine operator can measure volumetric accuracy, including three displacement errors, six straightness errors and three squareness errors. The errors are determined with only four sequential diagonal displacement measurements because they are sensitive to all the volumetric error components. From the measured results, analysis software automatically generates a volumetric compensation table for the controller or the parts program can be compensated in the postprocessor.
Circular errors are measured with continuously varying circular path radii to determine contouring accuracy at small radii and high-feed rates. By measuring the circular paths, and comparing deviation from a perfect circle, the resulting shapes can be diagnosed and correlated to backlash, reversal spikes, cyclic error, stick slip, vibration response lags, acceleration/deceleration time, and block processing delay or programming methods. Because motion errors due to the mistuning of CNC servo controls systems are often easier to observe on noncircular paths, the QC-500 also has the capability to run non-circular contouring tests.
