Visit BIG Kaiser in the brand new West Hall at
Booth F-2114 to see the newest in precision tooling from BIG Daishowa, Kaiser,
Speroni, Sphinx, Unilock and more.
BIG Kaiser's new EWN Digital Boring Head offers diameter adjustments of 1 micron that can be easily seen on a high-contrast LCD display. A single button is used for all standard functions such as "on," "reset" and "store." The display will also have an "Auto-off" feature to optimize battery life. Accessories for the range ¯2-54mm are the same as for existing program EWN2-50XL.
Kaiser's EWB-UP heads will also be shown for the first time with inch graduations. These heads feature easy-to-read dials with divisions of .00005" on diameter. A second dial on the heads corresponds to the boring diameter range and is adjusted to correct for the tool unbalance. The tool carrier locking system doesn't influence the tool diameter.
Two new angle heads from BIG Kaiser include the ONBS and the Compact Angle Head. Angle heads combine vertical, horizontal and angular operations on one machine, eliminating multiple setups. The ONBS Angle Head offers a coolant-through the tool design. ONBS is available as standard in BIG-PLUS CAT40 and CAT50 tapers.
Also new from BIG is the OPT1500 Touch Probe. The probe's in-machine sensor communicates directly with the control, simplifying operation and programming. The OPT1500 offers an accuracy of +/- 1 micron.
BIG Kaiser also introduces its MEGA ER Collet Chucks, the first common industry collet chuck available to work with the BIG-PLUS tooling system. The MEGA ER16 and ER32 Collet Chucks are only available in CAT tapers.
The expanded line of Sphinx Micro Drills is made of fine-grained solid carbide and delivers exceptional tool life and consistent process reliability. One of the new micro drills, available in diameters from 0.30mm - 1.50mm, in steps of .01mm, is offered with a 3mm reinforced shank. The drill is offered in standard lengths of 6xD, and can be run with or without coolant.
The second micro drill, available in diameters 0.50mm - 1.60mm, in steps of 0.05mm, is offered in standard lengths at 10-15xD. It is recommended for materials such as steel, titanium and nickel alloys, aluminum and copper. The two-flute geometry offers a point angle if 118 degrees and a helix angle of 25 degrees.
Additionally from Sphinx, the Phoenix Drill line has expanded from 6xD to include 3xD and 12xD. The newest Phoenix Drills are available in diameters from 1mm - 12.7mm, in .1mm increments, with coolant through from ¯ 2.5mm and a Helica coating. The Phoenix line of drills are made from solid carbide and are designed to cut extra-hard materials.
BIG Kaiser will unveil the new benchtop Speroni MAGIS at IMTS. The MAGIS will be available in three sizes to fit any company's tool measurement and presetting needs. Its single-screen control is user-friendly and available with optional touch screen technology, for accurate tool measuring. Standard MAGIS features include Integral ISO50 Taper Spindle, Pneumatic Spindle Brake, Integrated Calibration Master, Pneumatic Axis Locks, X & Z Axis Fine Adjust, Episcopy Ring Light and CCD Camera. All Speroni presetters are fully constructed of aged pearlitic cast iron, for thermal stability.
