Knights of Dallas Offers Heat Treat Furnaces

Knights of Dallas was founded in 1960 by Bill Knight and is a leader in heat treat equipment. Many of the Knights furnaces manufactured over 20 years ago are still in use today.

"Machine shops save time with a Knights furnace at their disposal in their own shop," said a Knights spokesperson. "Shops no longer need to send parts to a heat treating company. Outsourcing heat treating can be expensive. Many machine shops find they save money within the first year of treating materials with their Knights heat treat furnace. Heat treating in-house also means maintaining quality control over the part."

Knights of Dallas offers over 20 sizes of heat treat furnaces for most any application. Knights also custom builds furnaces for special size needs.

Some examples of models are:

  • The KMT-10 interior measures 8-1/2" wide, 6" high, and 9" deep, a good size for most small parts.

  • The KMT-13 is made for large objects and higher volume users. The firing chamber is 13" wide, 8-3/4" high and 13-1/2" deep.

  • The KMT-21 offers a capacity of 21" wide, 13-1/4" high and 21" deep inside.

Knights KMT series furnaces are equipped with a programmable temperature controller. "It's easy to use and simple to master," said the spokesperson. "The control stores up to four programs in memory even if the furnace is unplugged." A different program can be stored for each type of steel you heat treat. The control's alarm sounds when a programmed temperature is reached. A large, bright display shows temperature throughout heating and cooling.

Knights furnaces feature an optional heavy duty guillotine door with seals. The door lifts and lowers easily. The furnace can also use inert gas for use with air hardening steel providing a clean decarb-free heat treated part.
