Carolina Commercial Heat Treating, Inc. Introduces Nitreg

Carolina Commercial Heat Treating, Inc. has recently improved and diversified its services with the addition of Nitreg, a patented, state-of-the-art nitriding technology developed by Nitrex Metal, Inc. of Montreal, Canada. Nitrex is a leader in nitriding controls and equipment and their Nitreg process is being used by first and second-tier suppliers to the automotive manufacturers. The Nitreg process not only duplicates but also improves upon parts that require ion, plasma, gas and salt nitriding, according to a company spokesperson. Control of the white layer and case depth on all types of parts and alloys provides the customer with the opportunity to finish a part before nitriding and meet specifications in every load.

This new furnace also has capacity to perform ferritic nitrocarburizing as well as ONC, a controlled post-nitriding oxidation process that improves corrosion and wear resistance while  producing a black aesthetic finish.  The opportunities for customers who manufacture parts for the automotive, trucking and heavy machinery industries are substantial. Other industries that have availed themselves of this new technology include aerospace, tooling, gears, hydraulic pumps, mining, logging and more.
