Precision
deburring of individual parts at a speed of up to 480 pieces per hour is
achieved with double-spindle finishing machines now available in a choice of
three tub capacities from ALMCO KleenTec, Inc., the company said.
The Model 2SF-48A, for example, has a 48-inch-diameter tub that handles pieces with up to l6-inch diameters and delivers exceptionally close tolerance radiuses. The operator loads and unloads parts on each of the spindles, which are lowered into the tub filled with finishing abrasive that is spun by centrifugal force into what ALMCO calls a "form-fitting grinding wheel." The process assures uniform deburring and finishing of all part surfaces, the company notes.
"Spindle finishing offers numerous benefits not possible with conventional mechanical finishing equipment," said a spokesperson. "Highest precision of parts is attained, and many can be finished in no other way if there is a requirement for extreme accuracy. Process repeatability is assured through elementary adjustments of the equipment and other simple procedures."
The 2SF-48A is suited to complex parts such as gears, bearing cages, splined shafts, pump rotors and jet compressor discs and blades. The machine requires floor space of approximately 5 x 8 feet.
