Machine Company is helping roll grinding shops boost their productivity by
replacing bonded grinding wheels with abrasive belts," said a spokesperson.
"Abbott recently demonstrated how their Versagrind Belt Grinding Attachment used
with a 3M Abrasive Belt could cut faster than wheels and achieve accurate part
geometry on a variety of roll/rod materials, including thermal sprays, tool
steels, rubber and chrome.
"Compared to traditional bonded wheels, the belt system is easier to use and less dependent on operator skill. Change-outs are faster, too, requiring as little as 90 seconds to change from a roughing belt to a finishing belt. 3M Abrasive Belts cut faster and do not require dressing, all helping the customer improve their roll grinding productivity."

3M Technical Service Representatives from around the world recently visited Abbott Machine Company, to see the belt system in action.
