New Smart-Design Studer S33

Studer has redesigned its widely popular S33 cylindrical grinder for improved automation, said the company.

"To introduce the new smart-design they're building a number of 'Swiss Edition' machines - painted red and including an emblem with the Swiss cross and crossbow, the symbol of quality," the company said. "The controversial decision is proving to be a big hit in the US-furthering America's reputation for individuality and rebelliousness."

"The new Sensitron 6 electronic contact detection eliminates wasted time in either dressing or grinding for both conventional and super-abrasive wheels due to its variable frequency range that distinguishes between unwanted noise and grinding/dressing in a range of conditions, enabling the control to quickly close the gap.

"New automatic doors are also available, to speed and simplify the load/unload times when manually loading the machine in a production environment.    "The redesign includes a new loader interface for a future integrated handling unit to ensure compatibility of the machine and loader.

"The S33 features the latest technology in process gauging using digital measuring heads to reduce space and improve reliability and accuracy in an automated process.

"These new features add to the versatility of the Studer S33, already known as the universal grinder for small budgets and high demands. An average changeover time of two minutes makes it the ideal machine for small-run jobs. Improved automation adds to the S33's attractiveness for the busy job shop," the company said.
