International Corporation has introduced the new Coborn RG5B-XD Manual Grinding
Machine for super hard PCD and PcBN tools, featuring extremely rigid
construction, an enhanced working envelope and a user-friendly touch screen
control system to quickly develop tool grinding programs and recall tool "grind
blocks" as needed, the company said.
"Incorporating precision Coborn spindles enabling high production rates and high precision tool grinding performance, the RG5B offers one-micron wheel in-feed resolution and 200 degree pivot motion, conical clearance movement up to 25 degrees with a single hand wheel, adjustable grinding pressure and up to 35 mm tool radius capability," said a spokesperson. The operator can set wheel speed, wheel direction, stroke position and stroke amplitude from the touch screen for later recall.
"It can include 25 permanent memories for stroke part positions and stroke length, programmed amplitude with digital position readout as well as a one touch automatic view with no loss of tool position. Specific PCD and PcBN tool applications for the RG5B include tipped turning/milling inserts and shank type tools, multiple flank and multiple radii tools, tools with multiple clearance angles and PCD tools such as end mills, reamers and multi-tool saws utilizing an optional rotary fixture. Other options include VS5-G to provide in-process measurements for enhanced operational efficiency."
