Abrasive Grinding Center Optimizes Interrupted Cuts

MAX-TEK, LLC has introduced the MAX-TEK STC-400 Superabrasive Turning Center, featuring hydraulic part holding and tailstock for the machining of difficult interrupted cut components, such as centrifugal pump and compressor impellers up to 25" in diameter. The machine's high-tensile-strength Meehanite base is designed to provide superior rigidity and vibration damping needed for accurate, high-speed abrasive machining. Ergonomic design assures that the grinding wheel is easily accessible enabling safe, simple wheel changes, the company said. The linear guide ways have no contact with grinding swarf, which drops to the bottom of the machine for transfer to the sump.

The work spindle features an 11 HP motor and up to 3,500 RPM and is capable of heavy material removal as well as superfine finishing operations. Linear positioning is +/- .0001"/12 inches and linear repeatability is +/- .00005". A Fanuc based CNC system is standard.
