Cinetic Landis Grinding Corp. has introduced its
Landis Giustina R220 double disc grinder for processing parts from 18 to 40 mm
wide with flat and parallel surfaces. The machine's design features, in
combination with the exclusive rotary plunge grinding process, are designed to
provide better parallelism, flatness, size control and squareness compared to
conventional double disc grinding processes. The rotary plunge process also
results in improved grinding wheel and diamond dresser life, the company said.
"CNC programmability combined with machine design features enable part-to-part changeover in as little as three seconds," said a company spokesperson. "The R220 also accommodates wheel changes in 30 minutes or less.
"The Landis Giustina R220 grinder has an exceptionally compact footprint, resulting in significant floorspace savings. The grinder has a cast iron bed, servo-controlled, precision ball screw feed system, and rotary feed carrier. The wheel heads, which are fixed on the machine bed, swivel on vertical and horizontal planes. The diamond dressing system is mounted on the wheel cover. Constant spindle temperature is maintained through coolant flow and thermal deformation compensation is provided through the use of special materials."
The Landis Giustina R220 grinder is available with a choice of Siemens or Fanuc CNC control.
