The new ZPS model MCFV-1060 machine with Luke Brader of BHI and Marathon service manager Steve Matis.
BHI Corporation, located
in the Southeast Houston area, recently took delivery of their fourth vertical
machining center manufactured by ZPS and delivered by Marathon Machine Tools.
Luke Brader, owner and president of BHI Corporation bought his first ZPS machine
10 years ago (at that time it was marketed under the Tree brand name), and he
was so satisfied with the machine that he bought three more during the past
decade. “The ZPS machines gave me excellent performance and trouble free
operation during the past years,” Mr. Brader stated. “We manufacture tight
tolerance work-pieces for the aerospace and oilfield industry, mostly out of
exotic materials, and the ZPS machines with their heavy-duty boxway construction
and high horse power spindles fulfilled all our requirements,” he said. Mr.
Brader also emphasized that he was glad to learn that ZPS now marketed the
machines under their own name and by a direct factory office in the Chicago
area.
BHI Corporation runs a modern production facility in the Houston area. In its 52,000 sq. ft. fully air conditioned new building on 20-acres of land it maintains a 2,400 sq. ft. quality control room, a high precision mechanical and electronic assembly hall, and utilizes 15 of the latest model CNC machine tools. BHI is one of the few Top Key Suppliers of Schlumberger Corporation in North America and manufactures high precision instruments and close tolerance downhole tools according to ISO-9000 requirements. “Quality is more than just a word in our company!” added Mr. Brader who started his company in 1971. “We buy only high quality equipment to fulfill our company philosophy. This is the reason why we consider Marathon Machine Tools as one of our top vendors. I purchased three Excel CNC turning centers from Marathon in the past two years, and both the machines and Marathon’s professional way of doing business convinced me to consider them first when I was looking for a new CNC machine,” Mr. Brader explained. “I was glad to hear that they now represent the ZPS machines as well!”
ZPS is a European machine tool manufacturer building quality and heavy-duty vertical and horizontal machining centers. Hundreds of users utilize these machines in the Texas and Louisiana area, mostly under the Tree and Okuma brand names. ZPS decided last year to import their machines under their own name, and appointed Marathon Machine Tools as local distributor. Marathon’s goal is to provide quality service and application support.
ZPS has four sizes of heavy duty vertical machining centers available. The 40 taper 1060 model features 40” x 24” x 30” travels, four box bed ways, 35 HP spindle and 30 tool ATC. Other models are available with 40 or 50 taper spindles and up to a range of 80” x 32” x 32” travels and gearbox spindles. The ZPS machines are offered with the user-friendly DynaPath CNC controls making available both G-code and conversational programming capabilities. Machines are available from stock at competitive prices.
