Hobart Brothers will showcase its filler metals at
Fabtech/AWS in booth #6030. Products to be featured at the show include Hobart®
ER70S-6 and Smootharc aluminum solid wire, Tri-Mark® Metalloy Vantage metal
cored wire, McKay® ChromaWeld flux cored wire, and Hobart 418 (AWS 7018-1 H4R)
stick electrodes, each of which offer improved welding performance on a variety
of industrial applications.
Hobart ER70S-6 Solid Wire
Hobart ER70S-6 mild steel solid wires are designed
for general fabrication applications. For use with 100% CO2 or argon-rich
shielding gases, the ER70S-6 wires provide increased tip life and consistent
wire feeding through longer cables or conduits, allowing for repeatable weld
parameters and making them applicable for high-duty cycle applications,
according to a spokesperson. Hobart ER70S-6 produces a smooth, stable arc for
quality weld beads. These features help eliminate weld discontinuities and
reduce labor costs associated with rework caused by wire feed issues.
McKay ChromaWeld Stainless Flux Cored Wire
This new product line expands Hobart Brothers'
existing offering of McKay premium stainless products, which includes stick
electrodes and solid wire. The ChromaWeld product line includes the 308LT0,
309LT0 and 316 LT0 for flat and horizontal position welding, along with the
308LT1, 309LT1 and 316LT1 for all-position welding. Designed for use with 75%
argon/25% CO2 or 100% CO2 shielding gas, Hobart optimized the ChromaWeld product
line for stainless steel applications where weld bead appearance is particularly
important. ChromaWeld products produce a bright, flat bead profile, while
providing improved slag release with minimal spatter.
Smootharc Aluminum Welding Wire
To expand its product line, Hobart Brothers now
offers the Smootharc 4043 and Smootharc 5356 spooled in spools (for MIG welding)
and cut lengths (for TIG welding). Both alloys are available in .035", 3/64",
and 1/16" diameters and one or 15 lb. spools as well as 1/16", 3/32" and 1/8"
diameter cut lengths for TIG welding. Smootharc is used with 100% argon
shielding gas for wetting action. These products are designed for a variety of
applications such as welding heat exchangers, food manufacturing equipment,
transportation equipment and general fabrication applications.
Tri-Mark Metalloy Vantage and Metalloy Vantage Ni1 Metal
Cored Wire
According to the company, these product's patented
formula reduces silicon island formation and produces weld bead toe lines that
are almost completely free of silicon deposits. The Metalloy Vantage wire is
ideal for single- and multi-pass welding on carbon steel applications, while the
Ni1 wire is designed for welding nickel-molybdenum steels. Advantages of these
wires include improved wetting action, gap bridging and side wall fusion,
increased travel speeds and higher deposition rates to help increase throughput
time.
Hobart 418 Low Hydrogen Mild Steel Electrode
For general-purpose low hydrogen applications,
Hobart Brothers offers the Hobart 418 (AWS E7018-1 H4R) mild steel electrode.
The Hobart 418 offers improved starts and restart, produces a virtually
spatter-free arc and a flat weld bead profile with a fine rippled appearance.
Slag removal is easy and in some cases self-peeling. Hobart 418 provides
penetration while the weld puddle washes into sidewalls with no undercutting.
Hobart 418 has the ability to weld smoothly on moderately dirty or rusty
applications. A low-moisture absorbing electrode, the Hobart 418 can be exposed
to 80°F at 80% relative humidity for nine hours and yields an overall moisture
reading of 0.4% or lower. The Hobart 418 provides extremely high impact values
up to 50°F, allowing for an AWS E7018-1 designation.
