CAMTech, Inc. held an open house recently where on
display were two custom machines designed and built by CAMTech. CAMTech is an
engineering and manufacturing company closely focused on the design and
construction of automation equipment for manufacturing companies.
The first machine was designed and built to form mill small engine connecting rod caps. This machine has an inverted design that allows common mounting surfaces of both fixtures and spindles. The design also allows the chips and coolant to flow downward with no machine structure to land on. This allows for virtually no cleanup of the machine. Other features include an automatic feeding system to automatically feed the parts into the milling operation, automatic loading into a servo-driven holding fixture utilizing a Fanuc LR Mate 200iB as well as on line measuring system utilizing SMAC probes. This feature allows us to automatically compensate the spindles to keep the parts' critical dimensions in tolerance.
The second machine is a two-part machine designed and built to assemble an automobile grille. The first part being a stand-alone machine that will automatically "snap" together the surround frame and the grille, the second part being a post-assembly table equipped with a screw feeding and driving mechanism.
CAMTech automation solutions are designed to operate autonomously with custom controls designed solely for each operation. In cases of integration into existing workcells and/or machinery, controls are designed to work in tandem with existing equipment.
CAMTech uses components manufactured by companies such as Allen Bradley, Banner, Balluff, Fanuc Robotics and SMC Pneumatics.
"CAMTech is a full service machine builder and Fanuc robot integrator. We have a full electrical and mechanical design group, a fully staffed machine shop and control panel building shop," said Chris Carron, V.P. of Sales.
