Direct Drive Solutions from Rexroth Offer Performance

"Direct drive solutions from Rexroth result in lower life cycle costs by eliminating wear-prone mechanical elements such as gears, screws, couplings, etc., while increasing stiffness, accuracy, and precision," said a Rexroth spokesperson. "It enhances machine productivity by improving equipment speed, precision and uptime."

By directly connecting the drive to the load, mechanical transfer elements are eliminated. This provides for faster acceleration, zero backlash, and positioning accuracy. In many cases, the overall project planning, machine construction, and maintenance are simplified.

IndraDyn L

IndraDyn L motors are capable of producing up to 5,000 lb. of linear force and offer a low force ripple of < 1%. The new IndraDyn L motors are available in various sizes and lengths, and can be delivered with a standard enclosure or with a thermal enclosure for higher temperature stability requirements. High operating safety, even for extreme environmental conditions, is achieved with IP65 protection of all components, according to a spokesperson.

IndraDyn H

IndraDyn H synchronous motors from Rexroth are kit motors which have been optimized for high torque without compromising its high speeds. It consist of a three-phase-wound stator and a permanent-magnet rotor. IndraDyn H motors offer a combination of the advantages of synchronous motor technology with the operational characteristics of asynchronous motors. With its wide constant-output-power (field-weakening) ranges, short ramp-up-to-speed times and low rotor temperatures, these motors are suited for use in main spindles and other high-speed applications. IndraDyn H motors can achieve speeds of up to 30,000 RPM. Acceleration times are up to 2.5 times faster than for comparable asynchronous motors, according to a spokesperson.

The cooling system, enclosed within the stator, reduces costs and work for the machine builder while increasing cooling efficiency. In addition, the power and cooling connections are standardized for quick and easy connections.

IndraDyn T

Rexroth IndraDyn T torque motors are synchronous frameless motors comprising a stator with three-phase winding and a rotor with permanent magnets. IndraDyn T motors feature maximum torque ratings up to 3,500 ft-lb., rated speeds from 25 to 700 RPM, maximum speeds up to 1,200 RPM and offer a low torque ripple of < 1%. The IndraDyn T torque motors are designed for link circuit voltages of up to 750 V and are available with liquid or convention cooling and include thermal encapsulation.

Rexroth direct drive motors, when used with Rexroth's new intelligent digital drive family, IndraDrive, eliminate the need for external protection. Uncontrollable costs associated with the failure of these control electronics are reduced. In addition, the motor windings are protected against thermal overload by integrated temperature sensors.
