All-Digital Servo Control 5C Indexing System
Hardinge Workholding Group offers a 5C indexer with an all-digital servo control. The servo control will support either brush or brushless motor indexers made by Hardinge and other manufacturers. "This digital control has a power module (drive electronics) for cooler and quieter operation resulting in a efficient system," said a Hardinge spokesperson. "The combination of high-level servo control technology, backed by Danaher Motion, and the reliability that Hardinge has engineered into the mechanical indexer offers the user fast and reliable indexing and programming."
Hardinge's
servo control features a multiple line LCD display that lets the user view and
edit the program number, step number, loop count and preparatory code on the top
two lines of the display, eliminating scrolling. Store up to 50 programs with up
to 1,000 steps in each program. The parameter number as well as its definition
can be viewed in English. The multiple line display allows you to view critical
data, reducing scrolling and spending less time referring to the operator's
manual, according to a spokesperson. Error and fault messages can be displayed
to help diagnose problems. Hardinge's servo control uses hardware rather than
software to detect feedback faults.
"The Hardinge servo control has the ability to handle baud rates up to 56k, supporting the latest speeds for sending and receiving data," said the spokesperson. "RS 232 communication parameters can be adjusted to support stop bits, data bits and different baud rates to work with different machine tool brands, and is accessible for remote diagnostics and troubleshooting. The Hardinge servo control can be used as a direct replacement for the current benchmark control in conjunction with either brush or brushless motor indexers. Hardinge parameters are common to the benchmark unit to ease operator integration from one brand to the other."
The standard Hardinge 5C indexer will index at 360-degrees per second. In addition, Hardinge uses a special seal to eliminate coolant seepage.
The Hardinge 5C indexer is compatible with other common brands in the market, using the same spindle centerline, foot print and tool path clearance, according to a spokesperson.
The Hardinge 5C rotary indexing system is compatible with Hardinge-brand and most other brands of vertical machining centers and knee mills and is 4th-axis control capable.
